tissue flowers

I like to make fancy tissue paper flowers. Obviously I have recently gotten a bit out of hand.. Wait till you see photos of my daughter's headboard. It is like Frida Kahlo and Martha Stewart united.

If you want to make your own flowers, click here

I am not one for truly following directions. I just wing it...

sally mann

{mocoloco.com}
{guardian.co.uk}

Described by Time magazine in 2001 as "America's best photographer", she is nothing if not adventurous, ranging widely in subject matter and technique, but to most people she is known, if at all, for just one thing: "Oh, she's the one who photographed her children naked."

She always knew she would be an artist of some kind, and after marrying in her teens, getting a good degree and studying creative writing, she settled on photography, which she'd taken up while at school. The assignments were far from glamorous – "The manager of Pizza Hut shaking hands with a prize college athlete: I did that sort of thing for 10 years" – but she scraped a living from them and nurtured more experimental work on the side. Then came an exhibition, a book called Second Sight, and fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundationand National Endowment for the Arts. While raising her three children in the 1980s, she worked to the principle that art is about the ordinary and lies right under our noses. Her reputation was steadily growing, but New York seemed a long way away ("It didn't help my career to be living in Appalachia") and she remained comparatively unknown until Immediate Family became a publishing sensation in 1992.

Target bakery : butterfly cake

Target Stores bakery is super awesome. Check out this super cute pull-a-part cupcake cake. It was only $15.99. We had the colors customized to pink/orange since our daughter LOVES those colors. If you use your Target Card to pay you save 5%. It is like stealing cupcakes from a baby.

Hey Target folks, if you find this posting... you should consider making it easier for consumers to find your awesome cakes. I just tried to find them on your website and you can't really find them. bummer. You have such a great offering at the bakery and many people don't know how good it is.

Jorge + Alexa + Eli

"In case you haven't seen it, you really should. It's simple. A young, handsome man strumming an acoustic guitar, his daughter sitting beside him, taking her turns on every other verse. The song is by a band you probably have never heard of, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. It's got a catchy little hook, a great whistle intro and a chorus - "home is wherever I'm with you" - that wouldn't make you stop and think, unless you knew Jorge and Alexa. Unless you knew that he's a full-time student, 24, and recently split with Alexa and her sister's mom. You wouldn't pay attention unless you knew that he sings the song to his daughter every night as a way of helping her deal with the pain of her mom and dad splitting up, to help her deal with having two homes. You wouldn't think much of it unless you talked to Jorge."

family fun magazine : birthday ideas

{familyfun.go.com/parties} Can you imagine waking up to a room full of balloons on your birthday? How fun! I think I would still like that as an adult. Family Fun magazine always has great ideas. However their online website is a tad bit annoying... I suggest just ordering a subscription if you have offspring in your life.

{urbanoutfitters.com} some of the items I am currently liking at Urban Outfitters. I would never wear that red dress myself but I like the concept. My friend, Jill would rock that out with a cool pair of shoes and a fun hair accessory.
