my little drama

this necklace says "my little drama" in golden teardrops

My Little Drama is the result of a collaboration between product designer Eva Schildt and illustrator Maja Sten. We met in 1978 drawing sad puppies at Ballongen kindergarden. Some 25 years later after doing this and that we ended up doing jewellery together. The collection consists of a number of motives that all have their own unique character. Some are vain, some are cheeky others live their life on a string. Welcome to My Little Drama.

Bjorg

Bjørg was born on a dark winter-night in December 1966. She grew up in the arctic nature where the wild mountains meet the North Ice Ocean. With bright summer nights and winter days with darkness and colors of the Nordic light.

Bjørg was gifted with an energetic family with open minds, and was the youngest of four children. She was always encouraged to enjoy her creativity and she had an endless line of projects like the rest of her family.

“At one stage I think my parents felt we were too much with all our activities, all happening in the tiny living-room. They converted a small bedroom into a timeout zone, for themselves. My big brother had a tiny room where he developed photos. I was always fascinated with the magic of a blank paper turning into a piece of art.”

At age seventeen Bjørg moved to Oslo and attended art school for one year. Between the age of eighteen to twenty-one she worked in the fashion industry and traveled the world.
“I have always loved to travel – and have taken the opportunity whenever possible.”

During all this year she loved making clothes. When she turned twenty-two she bought a knitting machine and started making her own line of clothing - and was soon exhibiting in galleries in Norway, Japan and Germany.

Three years later she moved to Copenhagen where she stayed for nine years. During these years she had her own studio/boutique on the North coast of Sjælland. She designed and produced home textiles, children clothing, accessories and jewellery. In 2001 she published the book “Seasons with children”.
“For me the process has always been the biggest joy - the playful phase where you don’t know where things will end - and you don’t really care about the result!”

bead for life

The Triple Swirl necklace is pretty and elegant with a touch of class. Looks fantastic with both office clothes and eveningwear. It combines three beads together to form larger beads that are joined together by translucent seed beads. This necklace is an original creation by BeadforLife beaders. Approximately 18-21 inches long. $20 USD

The five-strand necklace will fit anyone's wardrobe needs. Full and colorful, it will add pizzazz to your business attire and elegance to your best dress. For a different look twist the five strands around one another. Five strands, all in one, the perfect fit for today's fashion trends. Approximately 18-21 inches long.
$30 USD

Their story:
On our website, you will find stories about fascinating and inspiring people both in Uganda and in other parts of the world. (Check out Meet the Beaders.) Our beaders and tailors are primarily impoverished women who are hardworking, intelligent, and strong in their desire to improve their lives. They make gorgeous handcrafted paper beads from recycled paper and turn them into necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. Because the beaders use recycled, colorful paper, the beads help prevent environmental degradation. What was trash becomes beauty, money, food, and hope.

Our goal is for our members to be independent of BeadforLife within 27 months by being able to support themselves within the Ugandan economy. To assist members in launching their own small businesses or in creating new revenue streams, we provide entrepreneurial training, facilitate savings accounts, and make business funds available.

Because our jewelry is hand made from recycled paper, each bead is unique. Over 300 members and many of their family members are currently making beads – perhaps 1000 people in all. The sizes and colors of our items may vary reflecting the uniqueness of the woman who made them.
