type matters

{youtube.com}

whoa- about 80 comments on youtube. viewed about 18,000 times as of may 11th 2009. Aaron Draplin (his website) and I actually went to MCAD about the same time. Even put in a stint at Charles Anderson Design Company as interns, working on the Snapstock book. He always had a passionate point of view. Love to hear what he is doing now. I agree, the old signs are art. The new signage doesn't deserve a second glance most days.

I read one comment on youtube, that you can't make signs like they used to--that there are laws against it. Maybe so, but there has to be some way to use better type, color, format, white space, and so on. They don't have to be so horrible or expensive.
